Marcia closed by providing feedback to the larger group. Her suggested next steps are listed below.
1. Talk with others in the house, identify key issues, and address concerns.
2. Talk to students
3. Find out who the first group is to meet with students when they arrive at Kent State.
4. Identify resources.
5. Identify the kinds of structures (scaffolding) we need in order to help students be successful. Ask students which kinds of scaffolding seem most helpful.
6. Ask ourselves- Do we really trust students to be responsible for their own learning and their own education? What are our values? Do we really know what we’re getting into? What is the reality of this change? Do we wholeheartedly want to do this? Is central administrative supportive?
7. Recruit people to take part in the change.
