Senior Associate Provost, Tim Chandler, provided an introduction for The Whole House seminar which took place over October 15-16, 2009. Dr. Chandler discussed how the learning-centered-approach connects with the overall theme of a Kent State education, which is based on the 4 Pillars: Knowledge, Insight, Engagement, and Responsibility. He emphasized the importance of self-authorship to be woven throughout the entire university community. Chandler introduced Professor Marcia Baxter Magolda as the featured speaker, noting that her research is some of the most widely cited in the field of college student development. Dr. Chandler shared his hope that Baxter Magolda would help Kent State in the journey towards becoming a fully engaged university.
